Women controlling more money and wealth

Julie Murphy • September 24, 2010

I came across an interesting figure the other day.  According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, women now control more than 51 percent of the wealth in the United States.  And according to recent figures from  the I.R.S., of the individuals with assets of at least $1.5 million, 43 percent are women.

This is amazing to me and I really see this in my every day practice.  Many of these figures are attributed to the fact that women are finally choosing to own their personal power with money.  They are tired of being victims to outside circumstances and are making changes in their life.  This includes going into business for themselves or finding creative solutions for their careers so they can also balance their family life.

Being a small business owner with one child and another on the way, I know that being a mom and climbing the corporate ladder can be difficult.  If you are thinking about ways to better manage your career and home life, I encourage you to look inside yourself.  Do some soul searching to understand your true passions, dreams and what you want out of life.  Then, start thinking about ways you can make a living off of your passions.  Time and time again, I’ve seen that the money flows once you are living in accordance to your life purpose.  And remember, have confidence in yourself!  The statistics above prove that women are doing it and you can too!

That choosing rest meant we were lazy.
That saying “no” made us difficult.
That wanting more — peace, abundance, joy — was somehow wrong.
